£14 Million Energy Project to Reduce Emissions at Tameside Hospital
Tameside Hospital will undergo a £14 million energy overhaul aimed at cutting emissions by over 2,000 tonnes annually. This initiative, in collaboration with Vital Energi, includes new low-carbon technologies and a 2MW heat pump system, which is critical for NHS net zero targets.

Tameside Hospital is set to invest £14 million in an energy transformation project, expected to reduce carbon emissions by over 2,000 tonnes per year. The initiative, executed with Vital Energi, includes the construction of a new energy center featuring a 2MW heat pump system and the replacement of outdated gas boilers.
Additional upgrades encompass improved insulation, energy-efficient building management systems, solar panels, and over 500 LED light fittings. This project is part of broader NHS efforts to modernize infrastructure and achieve net zero emissions, potentially leading to lower energy costs and enhanced patient care.
