Palisade Towers in Yonkers is undergoing a $35 million electrification project, expected to be completed by 2027. This initiative will replace gas systems, which were shut down due to leaks, with all-electric infrastructure, including new electrical feeder cables and high-efficiency heat pumps for individual apartments.
Funding sources include $12.9 million from New York State Homes and Community Renewal, $1.5 million from NYSERDA, and $4.6 million from the Westchester County Public Housing Assistance Initiative. The project is a collaborative effort among various government levels and aims to retrofit 10,000 units statewide.
