Aalborg Designated as National Industrial Park to Boost Green Manufacturing and CCUS Projects

CARBON CAPTURE

The Danish Government has designated Aalborg as one of 11 national industrial parks, allocating 243 hectares of land with potential expansion to 497 hectares, located at East Port and Norbis Park. This initiative aims to facilitate green manufacturing through streamlined permitting processes for businesses, including a one-stop shop for approvals.

The park is expected to attract over DKK 10 billion in investments and create 1,500 jobs in energy technology. Notable stakeholders supporting the initiative include Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Siemens Gamesa.

Aalborg is positioning itself as a hub for carbon capture, storage, and utilization (CCUS) technologies, with projects like the ACCSION carbon capture facility and Fjord PtX, which aims to produce synthetic aviation fuel. The new infrastructure will enhance Aalborg's competitive advantage in green production and logistics.
