Actemium UK Secures £5.7 Million Sellafield Control System Modernization Contract
Actemium UK is set to implement a £5.7 million contract for a new Distributed Control System at Sellafield, enhancing nuclear safety. This project will replace outdated systems installed in the 1980s, ensuring reliable operations and improved control.

Actemium UK has been awarded a £5.7 million contract to modernize the Distributed Control System (DCS) for the Waste Packaging and Encapsulation Plant at Sellafield Ltd., a nuclear waste processing site in Cumbria. The project is scheduled to commence in March 2026 and aims for completion by Q1 2028.
The new system, based on Rockwell Automation technology, will replace the original DCS and includes hardware and software upgrades along with operator training. Actemium's diverse engineering expertise will ensure compliance and enhance safety protocols. Additionally, the company will support STEM initiatives in West Cumbria to develop future engineers for the nuclear industry.
