AETE Opens New Facility at Ottawa Airport Enhancing RCAF Flight Testing
The Aerospace Engineering Test Establishment (AETE) opened a new operational facility on March 27, consolidating its test capabilities. This move supports enhanced collaboration with other aerospace organizations and aims to strengthen Canada's defense innovation ecosystem.

On March 27, the Aerospace Engineering Test Establishment (AETE) inaugurated its new facility, Hangar 14, at Ottawa International Airport. This development, part of the Engineering Flight Test Rationalization (EFTR) initiative, aims to centralize AETE’s operations, previously scattered across various locations since 2020.
The relocation enhances collaboration with organizations such as the National Research Council and Transport Canada, critical for military and civil flight testing. AETE's role in upgrading the RCAF's CF-18 Hornet fleet and future fighter aircraft programs underscores its importance in Canada’s defense strategy. The new facility is expected to improve recruitment and retention of aerospace talent, addressing previous challenges faced in Cold Lake.
