AI Robotics Enhance Urban Canal Waste Management in Thiruvananthapuram
Genrobotics' G-SPIDER system removed 168 tonnes of waste from the Amayizhanchan Canal under a municipal initiative. This deployment highlights the potential of robotics in hazardous environments, reducing human risk while maintaining waterway cleanliness.

Genrobotics deployed its AI-driven G-SPIDER robotic system to clean the Amayizhanchan Canal in Thiruvananthapuram, removing 168 tonnes of waste from February to June 2026. The project, part of the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0, executed 56 waste collection cycles and showcased the effectiveness of robotic cleaning in challenging conditions, particularly where human access is limited due to safety concerns.
The system utilizes Cable-Driven Parallel Robotics (CDPR) and machine vision for waste detection and removal. Additionally, a multi-level barricade was installed to intercept incoming debris, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to waterway maintenance. This method could significantly mitigate risks associated with traditional cleaning practices in hazardous environments.
