Aker Solutions Secures FEED Contract for CO₂ Terminal in Klaipėda, Lithuania
Aker Solutions has been awarded a FEED contract by KN Energies for a CO₂ transshipment terminal in Klaipėda, Lithuania. The project is part of the CCS Baltic Consortium, aimed at establishing the first cross-border carbon capture, transport, and storage network in the Baltic region. The terminal, co-funded by the EU, will have a capacity of approximately 2.8 million tonnes of CO₂ per year, supporting decarbonization efforts in the region. The FEED phase will conclude in Q3 2026, with commercial operations expected by 2030.

Aker Solutions has received a FEED contract from KN Energies for a CO₂ transshipment terminal in Klaipėda, Lithuania, as part of the CCS Baltic Consortium. The project aims to create a cross-border carbon capture and storage network in the Baltic, recognized by the European Commission and co-funded by the EU's Connecting Europe Facility.
The terminal will handle around 2.8 million tonnes of CO₂ annually from industrial sources in Lithuania and Latvia, storing it temporarily before shipping to North Sea storage sites. The FEED phase will finalize in Q3 2026, with a commercial launch targeted for 2030 and a final investment decision set for 2027.
