Albanese Government Allocates $66M for Cooperative Research in AI and Cyber Innovation
The Albanese Labor Government is granting $66 million through Round 18 of the Cooperative Research Centres Projects (CRC-P), with WV Technologies receiving $2.2 million for its Aboriginal-Led Global Cyber Innovation project. This funding will provide access to CSIRO's AI technology to enhance recycling efforts. The initiative also supports Indigenous employment through the Pathways Intensive Employment Program. The National AI Plan aims to foster an AI-enabled economy and will open Round 19 of CRC-P grants on March 18, 2026, with future funding planned for AI advancements.

WV Technologies will receive $2.2 million for its Aboriginal-Led Global Cyber Innovation for IT and AI Data Centre Automation project, facilitating access to CSIRO's AI technology for recycling.
The initiative also includes the Pathways Intensive Employment Program to support Indigenous workforce entry. The National AI Plan, released in late 2025, aims to create an AI-enabled economy. Round 19 of the CRC-P will open on March 18, 2026, with up to $3 million available for AI-focused projects. In 2027, AI Accelerator Round 28 will provide an additional $50 million for commercialisation of AI solutions.
