The Albanese Labor Government is awarding $66 million in Round 18 of the Cooperative Research Centres Projects (CRC-P). WV Technologies will receive $2.2 million for its Aboriginal-Led Global Cyber Innovation for IT and AI Data Centre Automation project, facilitating access to CSIRO's AI technology for recycling.

The initiative also includes the Pathways Intensive Employment Program to support Indigenous workforce entry. The National AI Plan, released in late 2025, aims to create an AI-enabled economy. Round 19 of the CRC-P will open on March 18, 2026, with up to $3 million available for AI-focused projects. In 2027, AI Accelerator Round 28 will provide an additional $50 million for commercialisation of AI solutions.
