Amazon Warehouse Overhaul in Pasco Sees Cost Increase to $44 Million
Amazon's investment in its Pasco warehouse project has reached approximately $44 million, including recent building permits. The facility, a significant asset in Franklin County, reflects a shift towards automation in logistics.

Amazon has filed building permits totaling nearly $14 million for its east Pasco warehouse, known as Project Pearl, bringing the total investment to approximately $44 million since an initial $30 million submission in April. The $140 million facility has been unoccupied since being approved for occupancy three years ago and is adjacent to another operational Amazon facility, Project Oyster.
Construction for both warehouses began in 2021 and the operational warehouse became active in 2024, employing around 1,000 workers. The improvements suggest a strategic pivot towards automation and reduced staffing levels, although specific plans remain unclear. This development is part of Amazon's larger investment footprint in the Tri-Cities area, contributing to significant property tax revenues for Franklin County.
