Ambuja Cements Partners with Leilac for Low-Carbon Cement Production in Gujarat
Ambuja Cements collaborates with Leilac Limited to implement low-carbon cement production technology at its Sanghipuram plant. This initiative aims to enhance carbon capture methods and support the company's net-zero objectives by 2050, reflecting industry trends towards sustainable manufacturing practices.

Ambuja Cements has entered a partnership with Leilac Limited to pilot a low-carbon cement production project at its 6.6 MTPA plant in Sanghipuram, Gujarat. The collaboration will focus on evaluating Leilac's carbon capture and hybrid electric heating technologies, designed to significantly reduce emissions and eliminate coal use in cement manufacturing.
If successful, the project could increase capacity by seven to eight times, capturing over one million tonnes of carbon dioxide annually. This alliance supports Ambuja's SBTi-validated goal for net-zero emissions by 2050 and aligns with global decarbonization trends in the cement sector. Industry experts highlight the importance of such partnerships to meet long-term climate targets amid rising regulatory and consumer pressures.
