Ammonia Gas Leak Contained at Masjid Tanah Factory
The Melaka Fire and Rescue Department successfully contained an ammonia gas leak at a factory in Masjid Tanah Industrial Park. The incident involved two ammonia tanks, with a total capacity of 5,200 liters, and required a significant emergency response team to manage the hazardous situation.

On June 7 at 1:47 AM, the Melaka Fire and Rescue Department responded to an ammonia gas leak at a factory in Masjid Tanah Industrial Park. A safety perimeter of 50 meters was established for risk assessment, revealing an initial gas concentration of 300 ppm inside and 75 ppm outside.
The leak involved two tanks, each with a capacity of 2,600 liters. Following the sealing of the tank valve and application of a water fog dispersion technique, gas concentrations were monitored, decreasing to 50 ppm inside and 25 ppm outside by the operation's conclusion at 8:17 AM.
A team of 12 personnel managed the incident, supported by police forces. This incident underscores the necessity for effective emergency response protocols in chemical handling environments.
