Approval Granted for 45 Homes in Blackpool After Flood Risk Disputes
Fylde Council has approved plans for 45 homes at Cropper Lodge, resolving a four-year dispute over flood risks. The development is set to enhance local housing supply despite prior objections regarding flood management.

Fylde Council has approved the development of 45 homes at Cropper Lodge, resolving a prolonged dispute over flood risks. The approval follows a series of objections from the Environment Agency (EA) that began in 2021, primarily concerned with the impact of raising ground levels on floodwater displacement.
The EA withdrew its objections in January 2026 after reviewing updated flood modelling that demonstrated the development would not significantly increase flood risk. The new estate will replace an existing bungalow and contribute to local housing targets. However, the EA highlighted ongoing vulnerabilities at the Red Bridge Pumping Station and indicated intentions to secure developer contributions for its future upgrades, underscoring the need for continued flood management strategies in the area.
