Aransas Pass Begins Construction on $12 Million Stormwater Pump Station to Mitigate Flooding
The City of Aransas Pass broke ground on a $12 million stormwater pump station on Feb. 11. Funded by the Community Development Block Grant program and Texas General Land Office, the station aims to alleviate flooding in the area and is part of the city's response to Hurricane Harvey. It will be the fourth pump station in the city, capable of pumping over 15,000 gallons of water per minute, relieving pressure on existing systems.

On February 11, the City of Aransas Pass broke ground on a $12 million stormwater pump station at Huff Street and Wheeler Avenue. This project, funded by the Community Development Block Grant program in partnership with the Texas General Land Office, aims to mitigate flooding impacts in the city.
Once operational, the pump is expected to handle over 15,000 gallons of water per minute. This station will be Aransas Pass's fourth, joining existing stations on Maddox Avenue, Goodnight Avenue, and Euclid, and is part of ongoing efforts to address flooding exacerbated by Hurricane Harvey in 2017. The project fulfills a 1983 drainage study recommendation.
