Arca and Giga Metals Sign 10-Year Agreement for Carbon Removal at Turnagain Nickel Project in B.C.
Arca Climate Technologies Inc. and Giga Metals Corporation have signed a 10-year agreement granting Arca exclusive rights to evaluate the potential of ultramafic waste rock and mine tailings at the Turnagain Nickel Project in British Columbia for carbon dioxide removal. This agreement, effective January 9, 2026, allows Arca to conduct testing and analysis using its Industrial Mineralization technology.
Giga Metals estimates that the site will generate approximately 1.3 billion tonnes of ultramafic material, with the potential to permanently remove up to 220 million tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere through carbon mineralization. The Canadian government has prioritized nickel production in its 2022 Critical Minerals Strategy, further supported by investment initiatives aimed at bolstering Canada's role as a global supplier of critical minerals.
