ASA Bans British Gas and Hive Ads for Misleading Green Energy Claims
The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has banned advertisements from British Gas and Hive for misleading claims regarding savings on green energy products. British Gas's paid Meta ad claimed customers could save up to £546 with a heat pump, but an investigation showed only 34% of customers achieved those savings. Similarly, Hive's ad claimed a 94% reduction in electricity bills with solar panels, but only 44% were expected to realize such savings. Both companies cited space restrictions for not including full details in their ads.
