Australia Funds Carbon Capture Technologies to Reduce Emissions from Hard-to-Abate Industries
The Australian Government has launched the Carbon Capture Technologies Program (CCTP) to accelerate carbon management technologies aimed at reducing emissions from hard-to-abate industries. $32.6 million will be allocated for emerging carbon dioxide capture, use, and removal technologies. The program supports projects that convert carbon dioxide into usable products and addresses residual emissions, which account for 20% of the nation's greenhouse gas emissions. Applications for funding close on May 6, 2026.

Australia's Carbon Capture Technologies Program (CCTP) aims to expedite the research and demonstration of carbon management technologies targeting hard-to-abate industries. The program has $32.6 million available to support innovative carbon capture, use, and removal technologies.
Hard-to-abate sectors contribute 20% of Australia's greenhouse gas emissions and face challenges in emission reduction due to their processes. The program invites applications for funding until May 6, 2026, and focuses on technologies that can convert carbon dioxide into usable materials. Additionally, the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Primary Industries will discuss critical minerals' role in Australia's $22.7 billion Future Made in Australia Plan in a public hearing on March 26.
