BAE Systems Invests £3.3M in Glasgow Shipyard Upgrade for Type 26 Frigates
BAE Systems is investing £3.3 million in a new paint facility at Govan shipyard, part of a larger £360 million modernization program. This facility aims to enhance production efficiency for the Royal Navy's Type 26 frigates.

BAE Systems is investing £3.3 million in a 1,100-square-metre paint facility at Govan shipyard, a critical element of a £360 million modernization initiative. Designed to improve production efficiency, the facility will allow simultaneous painting of four ship sections, including the largest parts of the Type 26 frigates.
Construction is anticipated to finish later this year, in collaboration with Norwegian firm Hallgruppen. The upgrade follows last year's opening of the Janet Harvey Hall, further enhancing the shipbuilding capability at Govan. Additionally, BAE Systems is integrating digital technologies to streamline workflows, contributing to the advancement of the Royal Navy's anti-submarine warfare capabilities.
