BC Hydro started fieldwork for the Westcoast Interconnection Project on March 9, conducting geotechnical drilling and environmental surveys in Hope. This project will create a new 5.5 km overhead 69 kilovolt power line, enhancing the Othello facility's efficiency.

The construction will run from the Hope Substation on 7th Avenue to the Westcoast Othello Compressor Station 8B near Othello Road. Preliminary consultations have been held with First Nation communities, and residents may see crews and equipment in the area during this phase.
