Biochar Industrial Group and Releaf Earth Collaborate to Transform Agricultural Waste in Nigeria
Biochar Industrial Group (BIG) has initiated a Biochar-as-a-Service model in Nigeria, partnering with Releaf Earth to convert palm kernel shells into biochar. This project addresses the challenges of agricultural waste management while generating verified carbon removal credits for sale to global tech firms, creating new revenue streams.

Biochar Industrial Group (BIG) has partnered with Releaf Earth to implement a Biochar-as-a-Service framework in Nigeria, converting palm kernel shells into biochar. This initiative allows for the systematic management of agricultural residues, which have historically been underutilized, and generates revenue through verified carbon removal credits sold to international technology companies.
The project addresses logistical issues by providing engineering oversight for the thermal conversion process and ensuring compliance with carbon credit standards. The biochar produced enhances soil quality by improving moisture retention and nutrient availability, addressing both waste disposal and agricultural productivity challenges.
