BMC Deploys Eight Rapid Action Teams for Flood Management in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has activated eight rapid action teams to address urban flooding as the monsoon begins. This initiative aims to enhance stormwater management and ensure efficient drainage across the city.

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has initiated operations with eight rapid action teams (RATs) equipped for urban flood management. These teams consist of four trained personnel, with tools including portable pumps and drain-cleaning equipment, on standby 24/7 for immediate deployment in waterlogging-prone areas.
BMC manages approximately 360 km of primary drains and 1,300 km of secondary drains for stormwater. The major drain network is divided into eight zones, with agencies assigned for cleaning and maintenance to improve monsoon readiness. This structured approach aims to mitigate flooding risks effectively.
