Boeing Seeks Army Commitment for CH-47F Block II Amid Funding Concerns
Boeing requests a firm commitment from the U.S. Army for the CH-47F Chinook Block II program as funding uncertainties arise. The Army's fiscal year 2027 budget currently lacks allocation for the program, risking production continuity and workforce stability.

Boeing has called for the U.S. Army to affirm its commitment to the CH-47F Chinook Block II program, as funding concerns jeopardize its future. Rep.
Mary Gay Scanlon highlighted that the Army's fiscal year 2027 budget does not include financing for Block II, which could lead to program cancelation. Currently, Boeing has contracts for 24 Block II aircraft, with six delivered last year and additional deliveries planned through late 2026.
Despite this, the production rate has fallen below sustainability levels, causing layoffs at Boeing's Ridley Park plant. The Army has expressed intent for full-rate production but has not clarified specific commitment milestones. Risks persist as the Army evaluates alternative contracting solutions for the Apache program, which may affect future procurements.
