Boundary Holding Exits Defendec, Eyes Eastern Europe's Deep-Tech Growth
Boundary Holding's exit from Defendec signals a robust opportunity in Eastern Europe’s deep-tech sector, particularly in AI. This move reflects a growing trend where Eastern European companies increasingly attract venture capital and drive innovation.

Boundary Holding, a Luxembourg-based venture capital firm, has fully exited its investment in Estonian AI surveillance company Defendec, yielding a significant return since its 2021 investment. This exit aligns with Defendec's acquisition by Canada's Vosker Corp., which aims to enhance its surveillance technology capabilities.
Eastern Europe, particularly Estonia, is emerging as a leading hub for deep technology, with over half of the Baltic states' deep-tech funding originating from the region. Companies like Starship Technologies and Veriff are gaining traction in autonomous robotics and AI identity verification, respectively. The region's blend of engineering talent and cost-effective operations positions it as a critical player in Europe's deep-tech future.
