BP Initiates Tender for Support Vessels in Tangguh UCC Project Development in Indonesia

CARBON CAPTURE

In a significant move for the energy sector, BP has unveiled a tender aimed at securing support vessels crucial for the Tangguh UCC project in Indonesia. This development represents a pivotal phase in the expansion of the Tangguh liquefied natural gas facility, situated in West Papua province. Earlier this year, BP, the project’s operator, initiated a separate tender for a jack-up rig that will facilitate the drilling of five development wells in the Ubadari field and three enhanced gas recovery wells in the Vorwata field.

The new tender specifies the need for anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels to ensure the smooth execution of at least five offshore rig movements. The requirements include one non-dynamically positioned AHTS vessel with a minimum bollard pull of 120 tonnes, alongside two additional AHTS vessels, each with a minimum bollard pull of 80 tonnes. The contract is initially set for two years, with the potential for extension by an additional year, highlighting BP's commitment to advancing the Tangguh project through strategic partnerships and effective resource management.
