Brazil's MDIC Minister Supports ReData and 'Blusinhas' Tax for Industry Protection
The Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce, and Services, Elias, emphasizes the priority of the ReData tax regime for data centers. The regime's implementation is stalled in the Senate, requiring further legislative negotiations.

Elias, the Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce, and Services in Brazil, has identified the Regime Especial de Tributação para Serviços de Data Center (ReData) as a priority for his ministry. Following the expiration of the provisional measure that established the ReData at the end of February, the ministry is working to resume its legislative process in the Senate, where discussions are ongoing.
The Chamber of Deputies has already approved it. Additionally, the minister supports the 'taxa das blusinhas' as a necessary measure for protecting the national textile and footwear industries against international competition. This support stems from recognizing significant tax asymmetries affecting local producers.
