Bregal's previous initiatives in natural capital began in 2022 with investments in agroforestry and environmental projects.

Bregal Sphere, the natural capital strategy of Bregal Investments, has partnered with developer Imperative to invest up to $500 million in ecosystem restoration projects. The investment will target projects in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, including the Beka Emva project in South Africa, which focuses on restoring the subtropical thicket biome.
Bregal intends to invest between $15 million and $30 million per project, with the first investment scheduled for the first half of 2026. Revenue is expected to come from carbon credits, driven by demand from large cloud service providers.
Bregal's natural capital initiatives began in 2022, with an investment in a coffee and cocoa project in the Peruvian Amazon. The strategy aims for projects to start generating carbon credits within three years.
