BrewDog's Kinrara Estate Transitions to Oxygen Conservation Amid Tree Planting Controversies
Oxygen Conservation acquired BrewDog's Kinrara Estate for £8.85 million, inheriting a forestry grant contract after BrewDog's tree losses. The deal includes 130,000 woodland carbon credits valued at £3.5 million and aims to continue reforestation efforts while addressing previous planting failures.

In October 2025, Oxygen Conservation purchased BrewDog's Kinrara Estate for £8.85 million, assuming responsibility for a forestry grant contract and associated carbon credits. BrewDog previously faced backlash after half of the 1.5 million trees planted died under extreme conditions, leading to the company's exit from the project.
Oxygen Conservation aims to restore the area, implementing sustainable forestry practices through TreeStory and aiming for premium carbon credits. Critics have raised concerns regarding the impact of private ownership on land use and community engagement, particularly in light of the company's acquisition of multiple Scottish estates and its focus on capital accumulation. The effectiveness of their restoration strategy remains to be seen, especially regarding deer management and the long-term sustainability of natural capital markets.
