The Brixton Reservoir and Water Tower project, valued at R250 million, was inaugurated to enhance water supply in Johannesburg's western suburbs. Water and Sanitation Minister Pemmy Majodina condemned the politicization of the water crisis, urging for accountability and constructive solutions from political parties.

The R250 million Brixton Reservoir and Water Tower project has been inaugurated, aiming to bolster water supply to various institutions in Johannesburg. Minister Pemmy Majodina criticized political parties for exploiting water issues for electoral gain, advocating for accountability and constructive dialogue.
The reservoir enhances the local water storage capacity from 20 to 46 megalitres and includes advanced features like a hybrid generator for pumping. Despite its launch, officials acknowledged the need for R7 billion for pipeline replacements and R6 billion for sewer upgrades, emphasizing that infrastructure investment alone cannot solve water issues. Residents are urged to conserve water and report illegal connections as the city addresses its infrastructure challenges.
