CambiaMenti Project Aims to Integrate Vaia Forest Restoration into Carbon Credits Market
The CambiaMenti project, presented at the European Carbon Farming Summit in Padova, targets the integration of the Vaia forest restoration into the carbon credits market. This initiative aims to implement the Carbon Removal Certification Framework (CRCF) by summer 2026, allowing forests and agricultural lands to certify local carbon removals. The project, led by Aequilibria's CEO Daniele Pernigotti, seeks to establish a transparent local carbon credit supply chain in Italy, enhancing direct relationships between credit producers and buyers. Italy's potential for carbon credits is significant, with over 11 million hectares of forest land.

The CambiaMenti project aims to incorporate the restoration of the Vaia forest into the carbon credits market, aligning with the Carbon Removal Certification Framework (CRCF) set to be implemented by summer 2026. The project seeks to create a local carbon credit supply chain in Italy, enhancing transparency and direct interaction between credit producers like landowners and farmers and buyers.
Italy has over 11 million hectares of forest, but lacks a uniform certification system. The Veneto region, heavily impacted by the Vaia storm, presents an opportunity for pilot interventions. The project is backed by six B Corp companies and aims to map involved areas and select pilot sites for restoration.
