Cambodian Officials Address Sewage Issues and Riverbank Erosion
In Preah Sihanouk province, authorities are tackling illegal sewage discharges into the sea, urging immediate cessation. A new drainage system under construction aims to treat 40,000 cubic meters of dirty water daily.

Minister Sun Chanthol has demanded an end to the illegal pumping of dirty water into the sea in Preah Sihanouk province, emphasizing that such actions harm the environment. Currently, a 45 km drainage system and filtration stations are being constructed to manage sewage, with the existing system treating only 7,000 cubic meters per day.
Additionally, Try Pheap Engineering & Construction Co Ltd has received conditional approval from Prime Minister Hun Sen for riverbank restoration between the Kaam Samnor Cambodia-Vietnam border and Kampong Cham and Kratie provinces. The government's recent measures include temporary business closures for violators and potential court actions for serious offenses. Effective management of these environmental challenges is critical as previous riverbank collapses have occurred in multiple provinces.
