Canva has announced the acquisition of Simtheory, an AI collaboration platform, and Ortto, a customer data and marketing automation firm. The financial details were not disclosed, but the acquisitions aim to strengthen Canva's capabilities in agentic AI and marketing infrastructure.
Both companies were co-founded by Chris and Mike Sharkey, who will assume leadership roles at Canva. This move aligns with Canva's strategy to evolve from a design tool to a comprehensive platform that manages the entire workflow, including planning, creation, and optimization of marketing content. Canva's recent acquisition spree includes Doohly, Cavalry, MangoAI, and MagicBrief, contributing to its reported $4 billion in annualized revenue and 265 million users.
