Carbon Business Council and Emerald Climate Launch APACdr Initiative for Carbon Removal in Asia-Pacific
The Carbon Business Council and Emerald Climate have launched the APACdr initiative to accelerate carbon removal in the Asia-Pacific region. This initiative aims to align stakeholders towards carbon dioxide removal growth, addressing the region's significant emissions. APACdr, anchored in Singapore, held its inaugural session in January 2026 with 26 organizations participating. Throughout 2026, it will focus on developing financial and policy infrastructure for carbon removal market scaling.

The Carbon Business Council and Emerald Climate have introduced the APACdr initiative to enhance carbon removal efforts in the Asia-Pacific, which is responsible for about half of global emissions. The initiative aims to coordinate demand signals, regulatory clarity, and institutional support to facilitate carbon dioxide removal (CDR) growth in the region.
Launched in January 2026 in Singapore, APACdr convened 26 organizations including financial institutions and project developers. The initiative will work on procurement models, pricing mechanisms, and educational engagement throughout 2026, and plans to host a summit during Ecosperity Week from May 18-21, 2026.
