Carbon Credit Market for Olive Production: Profitability and Certification Under EU Regulations
The management of olive groves has led to significant carbon removal from 15 farms, supported by the Carbon Removal Certification Framework (CRCF) under EU Regulation 2024/3012. This standardized certification system aims to bolster the voluntary carbon credit market, which is crucial for offsetting emissions and achieving the EU's climate neutrality goal by 2050, as outlined in Regulation 2021/1119.

The management of olive groves for carbon credit production has resulted in a net carbon removal or emission reduction from 15 olive farms. The Carbon Removal Certification Framework (CRCF), established under EU Regulation 2024/3012, provides a standardized system for certifying both permanent and temporary carbon removal. This framework aims to enhance the voluntary carbon credit market, which is essential for offsetting residual emissions and achieving the EU's climate neutrality goal by 2050, as outlined in Regulation 2021/1119.
