Carrollton Underpass Temporarily Uses Replacement Pump Amid Flood Preparedness
The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans has reported all three pumps at the Carrollton Underpass are non-operational, relying on a temporary pump. A project to replace these with larger pumps is set to begin in August, aiming for completion by December to enhance drainage capacity.

All three pumps at the Carrollton Underpass are currently out of service, necessitating the use of a temporary pump. A new contract has been issued by the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO) for replacing the pumps with larger models, which is expected to commence in August and be completed by December.
As of now, 87 of the 93 major drainage pumps are operational, with several pumps at various drainage pump stations out of service due to maintenance or other issues. The power status indicates some turbines and frequency changers are available for use, while others remain out of service. The impact of these outages could affect flood management during the anticipated rain event this week.
