The project, led by Member Services Manager Joseph Leven, highlighted the challenges of existing carbon credit systems, where costs often outweigh benefits for producers.

While the initiative confirmed that enhancing soil health, landscape hydration, and biodiversity naturally increases carbon levels, it also revealed the limitations of current carbon market mechanisms due to variability in soil types. The project shifted focus from fitting producers into carbon frameworks to validating their existing practices, encouraging continued environmental improvements without the need for certification. Casino Food Company is now committed to supporting its shareholders in enhancing their landscapes, with the understanding that carbon benefits will follow.
