CATER Elevated to Official University Center at UCF
CATER transitions to an official university center on July 1, enhancing its research capabilities and industry partnerships. This shift aims to align with UCF's strategic goals and expand research areas, including hypersonics and energy sustainability, crucial for workforce development in key industries.

Effective July 1, the Center for Advanced Turbomachinery and Energy Research (CATER) will operate as an official center at the University of Central Florida (UCF). This transition includes enhanced mentorship for early-career faculty, focusing on metrics like research expenditures and student mentorship.
CATER will also increase its research focus to include advanced air mobility and national security. New facilities, including the CATER-ATG Engine Research Test facility at Valkaria Airport, will support critical testing for aerospace companies. Additionally, the CATER Applied Propulsion and Energy Center (CAPE), set to begin operations in 2026, will collaborate with the MOSS facility to advance research in energy storage and nuclear engineering.
