CCUS Hub Study Identifies Five Hubs in Asia-Pacific, Welcomes New Consortium Partners
The CCUS Hub Study has identified five key hub locations for carbon capture in the Asia-Pacific region, following the assessment of over 3,000 potential sites. This initiative aims to enhance understanding and deployment of CCUS technologies in hard-to-abate sectors, bolstered by new industry partnerships.

The CCUS Hub Study has completed Phase 1, identifying five hubs in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Australia for carbon capture and storage. The study, involving a consortium of major industry players, began a prefeasibility assessment in August 2025 and aims to evaluate the technical and commercial viability of CCUS infrastructure.
The five hubs were selected based on their potential performance across the CCUS value chain and are expected to undergo detailed engineering and commercial analysis in Phase 2. The consortium has welcomed new partners including Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Kobe Steel, and Low Emission Technology Australia, enhancing cross-industry collaboration. Continued policy support and regulatory frameworks are essential for the commercial viability of CCUS initiatives.
