Chandler Pump Repair to Impact Kennewick Irrigation Water Supply May 8-18
Repairs at the Chandler Pumping Plant will significantly reduce water deliveries for Kennewick Irrigation Department customers from May 8 to 18. The main pump replacement is crucial as demand increases.

From May 8 to 18, the Kennewick Irrigation Department (KID) will experience a temporary shutdown of water deliveries due to the need for pump replacement at the Chandler Pumping Plant, located 12 miles northeast of Prosser. Currently, one pump is operational, but both are necessary to meet rising water demands.
The facility, managed by the Bureau of Reclamation, is the main water source from the Yakima River for KID. Customers are advised to conduct a thorough deep watering before the shutdown. The duration of the curtailment may be adjusted based on the speed of repairs, with efforts to restore supplies promptly following completion.
