Chandrababu Naidu Launches ₹1.36 Lakh Crore ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel Plant in Anakapalli
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation for a ₹1.36 lakh crore steel plant by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India in Anakapalli, Andhra Pradesh. The plant will produce 17.8 million metric tonnes of steel annually in two phases, with the first phase expected to start by 2028-2029. It aims to create around one lakh jobs and includes a captive port and dedicated pipelines. The project is part of Andhra Pradesh's strategy to enhance industrial growth and attract investments, with expectations of significant economic impact on the region.

It will be developed in two phases, starting with a capacity of 7.3-8.2 million tonnes. The plant is expected to create approximately one lakh jobs and includes a captive port and pipelines for raw materials. Naidu highlighted the investment's role in transforming North Andhra's economy and attracting further investments, with upcoming projects including a Google data center and Bhogapuram airport to enhance regional connectivity.
