Cheshire Police Budget Saves 30 PCSO Roles Following Council Tax Increase
The Cheshire police budget for 2026/27, proposed by Commissioner Dan Price, saves 30 Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) roles after a £14.39 increase in council tax for Band B households. This decision follows a public consultation where 73% of residents supported some increase. Despite saving these positions, 30 of the 60 previously identified at risk remain unprotected. The budget also includes plans for investment in smart automation and additional neighborhood officers.

Cheshire police's 2026/27 budget secures 30 Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) roles after an increase of £14.39 in council tax for Band B households. This follows a public consultation with 73% support for some rise.
Commissioner Dan Price noted that while this budget saves 30 positions, it does not protect all 60 at risk. Now, 57 PCSOs will serve across Cheshire. The budget also allocates funds for additional neighborhood officers and smart automation to optimize future operations.
