China Shifts Smartphone Production to Humanoid Robots
Chinese manufacturers are transitioning from smartphone production to humanoid robot manufacturing, with major companies leading the change. By 2026, China is projected to produce tens of thousands of humanoid robots, surpassing Western manufacturing plans.

Major Chinese manufacturers including Lingyi iTech, Lens Technology, and AAC Technologies are pivoting from smartphone parts to humanoid robot production. This transition is driven by the similarities in components like sensors, motors, and batteries between smartphones and humanoid robots.
Foxconn is already preparing to manufacture humanoid robots in Vietnam, while UBTech has begun mass production of its Walker S2 model. Analysts estimate that by 2026, the production of humanoid robots in China could exceed tens of thousands, outpacing current Western plans.
As manufacturing costs decrease by approximately 20% annually, China's robotics industry value has surpassed 240 billion yuan. The ability to produce parts quickly and at lower costs gives China a competitive edge, potentially leading to a market worth trillions globally.
