China's First 550-Megawatt F-Class Gas Turbine Unit Begins Power Generation
China Huadian Corporation Ltd. has launched the country's first 550-megawatt F-class gas turbine unit in Chongqing, marking a significant advancement in clean energy technology. The unit, part of the Huadian Chongqing Tongnan gas power project, is the largest and most efficient of its kind in China, with a total capacity of 1.1 million kilowatts. It is projected to produce 2.1 billion kilowatt-hours annually, meeting the needs of 1.75 million households while significantly reducing coal consumption and emissions.

China Huadian Corporation Ltd. announced the start of power generation for the first 550-megawatt F-class gas turbine unit in Chongqing after 168 hours of full-load operation. This unit is the largest and most efficient single F-class heavy-duty gas turbine in China, part of a project with a total capacity of about 1.1 million kilowatts.
The project will generate 2.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, serving approximately 1.75 million households, reducing coal use by 200,000 tonnes, and lowering carbon dioxide emissions by 860,000 tonnes each year. Gas turbines are highlighted for their lower emissions and faster ramp-up times compared to coal-fired units.
