CIP Closes Financing for 420 MW Solar and 750 MWh Battery Project in Mexico
Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners has achieved financial close on the La Esperanza Solar project in Mexico, marking its first investment in the country. The project will enhance the Yucatán Peninsula's power grid reliability and is a significant step in CIP's renewable energy expansion in Latin America.

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has reached financial close on the La Esperanza Solar project, which includes a 420 MWdc solar plant and a 150 MW/5-hour (750 MWh) battery energy storage system in Campeche, Mexico. The project has secured approximately USD 510 million in debt financing from several banks, including BNP Paribas and JPMorgan Chase Bank, while equity financing is primarily from CIP's Growth Markets Fund II, with potential co-investment from Profuturo.
Construction is underway, with commercial operations anticipated to start in 2028. This project is a priority under Mexico's national energy framework and is supported by a long-term power purchase agreement with CFE Calificados. This initiative is expected to significantly contribute to the region's electricity grid stability and support renewable energy deployment.
