Clean Arctic Volunteers Mobilize for Cape Chelyuskin Expeditions

The Clean Arctic project's volunteers have initiated operations at Cape Chelyuskin to establish the ArcTek center, a base for upcoming expeditions. They are tasked with activating essential facilities, including the diesel engine and wastewater treatment systems, in advance of the Great Arctic Expedition scheduled to begin shortly.

This expedition will involve 14 students from Moscow, selected from over 10,000 applicants. They will participate in ecological studies on the Taimyr Peninsula and restore historical memorials. A second Clean Arctic expedition is planned for August 15, aimed at removing decades of environmental debris, including rusted barrels and abandoned equipment. Since 2021, the Clean Arctic initiative has mobilized nearly 10,000 volunteers, clearing 22,000 tons of waste from 1,100 hectares in northern territories, with backing from the Presidential Nature Foundation and Rosatom State Corporation.
