Cocoyea Swimming Pool Slated for September 2026 Reopening After Administrative Delays
The Cocoyea Swimming Pool is projected to reopen in September 2026 after multiple delays linked to mismanagement. The Ministry of Sport will initiate a new scope of works to address ongoing infrastructure issues.

The Cocoyea Swimming Pool, initially reopened in January 2023, has been non-operational since November 2023 due to a broken check valve that flooded the pump room. A repair contract awarded in November 2024 was initially set for completion in April 2025; however, additional variations have further delayed the project.
The Ministry of Sport anticipates the entire procurement process to take approximately five months, with completion now expected in September 2026. To ensure future operational consistency, a retainer contract with a service provider is proposed. The facility has been a key community sports resource since its commissioning in 2007, but ongoing maintenance and management issues have hindered its functionality.
