INDUSTRIAL IOT

Colombo West International Terminal (CWIT) reached a significant milestone by handling one million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in its inaugural year, celebrated on March 16, 2026. This achievement marks the fastest time for any terminal at Colombo Port to reach this volume.

CWIT, developed through a partnership involving Adani Ports, John Keells Holdings, and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, represents an $800 million investment aimed at boosting Sri Lanka's maritime capabilities. The terminal features advanced automation and a capacity of 3.2 million TEUs annually, enhancing Colombo's role as a key transshipment hub. CWIT's rapid success is attributed to strategic planning and strong international partnerships.
