Community Raises Funds for Tornado Sirens in Summertown
A community effort in Summertown raised over $5,000 in 15 hours to install tornado sirens, exceeding the original goal. The initiative, led by the Mallory's Way Foundation, aims to enhance safety following recent severe storms.

A grassroots fundraising campaign in Summertown successfully raised $5,000 in just 15 hours for tornado siren installation. Initially, the Summertown Utility District was unable to fund the project due to legal restrictions on water utility funds, but interest surged after recent storms prompted renewed discussions.
The project is now managed by the Mallory's Way Foundation, which allows for donation collection via Zeffy. The funding goal was later raised to $8,000 to accommodate future siren purchases, with plans for a second siren already in motion. The first siren will be installed near the water towers on Highway 20, with future grant applications considered for additional sirens.
