Constructor University Launches Project QUBYSM to Advance Wireless Communications with DFG Funding
Constructor University is initiating Project QUBYSM, aimed at enhancing wireless communication efficiency using Hyper-Dimensional Sparse Modulation (HDSM) and quantum computing. Professor Giuseppe Freitas de Abreu leads the project, which has received three years of funding from the German Research Foundation (DFG).
The project addresses the increasing demand for data and speed amid finite resources, as traditional computing advancements face limitations. HDSM seeks to optimize resource usage by selectively activating frequencies, allowing for greater data transmission with fewer resources.
While the complexity of HDSM poses challenges for classical computing, quantum technology could facilitate the necessary multi-dimensional processing. The project aims to develop quantum-accelerated systems for transmitters and receivers, potentially leading to significant advancements in wireless technology, including applications in 6G and real-time data transfer for autonomous systems.
