CPFL Reports R$ 1.44 Billion Profit Driven by Data Center Demand Surge
CPFL Energia's net profit increased by 21.3% to R$1.44 billion in Q2 2026, fueled by a 35% rise in energy demand from data centers. The company faces challenges meeting this demand due to transmission network limitations.

CPFL Energia (CPFE3) achieved a net profit of R$1.44 billion in Q2 2026, marking a 21.3% increase year-over-year. The EBITDA was reported at R$3.56 billion, a 17.4% rise, and net revenue reached R$11.11 billion, up 5.3%.
The energy distribution segment's EBITDA rose 11.4% to R$2.3 billion, driven by higher residential and commercial demand, particularly from data centers in São Paulo. Demand for energy from data centers increased by 35% compared to Q2 2025, adding to previous growth of 24% in Q1.
However, CPFL's CEO noted existing bottlenecks, leading to the denial of nearly 8 gigawatts in connection requests for new projects. The company anticipates approximately R$500 million in retroactive compensation from the federal government for renewable generation cuts. CPFL is also preparing for potential impacts of a severe El Niño, having faced significant operational challenges during recent extreme weather events.
