CUSIP Global Services Launches CUSIP Request Mechanism for Voluntary Carbon Market with EcoRegistry Integration
CUSIP Global Services has launched a mechanism for voluntary carbon market registries to request CUSIPs for carbon credits. EcoRegistry is the first platform to implement this integration, enhancing transparency and traceability of VCM projects. This initiative stems from CGS's partnership with BeZero Carbon to create unique identifiers for carbon credits, similar to traditional financial CUSIPs.

CUSIP Global Services (CGS) has introduced a request mechanism that allows voluntary carbon market (VCM) registries to obtain CUSIPs for carbon credits. EcoRegistry is the first to adopt this mechanism, facilitating the linkage of VCM projects on its platform to CUSIPs.
This integration aims to enhance transparency, interoperability, and traceability of carbon credits. The CUSIPs for VCM projects will function similarly to traditional nine-character CUSIPs used in financial transactions. This initiative follows CGS's collaboration with BeZero Carbon to develop unique identifiers for carbon credits, promoting standardized transparency in the VCM ecosystem.
