Danish Crown and AgroGas Receive VERRA Approval for Methane Reduction Technology
Danish Crown and AgroGas have achieved VERRA approval for their methane reduction technology, which captures and destroys methane from manure tanks on pig farms, significantly reducing the climate impact of livestock production. This approval enables the sale of carbon credits, providing Danish farmers with economic incentives to lower emissions, with the potential to decrease livestock production's climate footprint by up to 20%. The first five installations are already operational, aligning with future climate accounting measures as CO₂ taxes are set to take effect in 2030.

Danish Crown and AgroGas have received international VERRA approval for their methane technology, which significantly reduces the climate impact of livestock production. This approval allows for the sale of documented carbon credits from AgroGas facilities installed on pig farms.
The technology captures and destroys methane from covered manure tanks, a potent greenhouse gas 28 times more impactful than CO₂, contributing heavily to agriculture's climate footprint. Danish farmers can now actively reduce emissions and aim to provide economic incentives through VERRA credit sales.
The technology, developed with Danish Crown, has the potential to reduce livestock production's climate impact by up to 20%. The goal is for methane reductions to be included in farmers' climate accounting as CO₂ taxes take effect in 2030. The first five installations are already operational among Danish Crown's cooperative owners.
